There are a wide range of material handling equipment being used in several industries to carry out different processes. One such equipment that plays a vital role in most industries is a feeder. It is basically a material handling equipment, which helps in regulating the flow of bulk material from one point to other (ideally, from a bin to a hopper). It is a conveyor that helps achieve a constant rate of dispersal for short distances.
There are many different types of feeders in use today. However, the vibrating feeders are among the most commonly used ones. Even the used vibrating feeders are being purchased by many industries. Why? Though being a used process equipment, they are capable of delivering good performance. What are these feeders? What do they do? Which industries use these feeders? Are you intrigued to know answers to these questions? Please read the following post.
How Does a Vibratory Feeder Work?
The following steps explain the working of vibratory feeders in a systematic manner:
- It Starts With A Bowl: In the first stage, the random bulk parts are loaded into a bowl of the feeder. These parts are then taken to the top of the feeder by the inclined spiral track of the bowl.
- Add Vibration: The electromagnetic coils create vibrations, which set the parts in motion. The parts vibrate at around 120 times per second. This vibration causes the parts to move through the feed system.
- Bring On The Tooling: The parts travel from the conversion area to the mechanical tooling features. Certain orientations are manipulated by these features, whereas the other orientations are allowed to pass. This process is used for the purpose of converting maximum number of orientations to a common orientation.
- Final Verification: In the final verification step, the parts are passed to the pneumatic or mechanical tooling. In this step, the parts that are not in proper orientation, are rejected and returned to the return pan. From here, they are taken back to the feeder center and the process is started over again.
- Keep It Moving: At this stage, proper alignment of the parts is done. After this, they are passed to the confinement tooling. The orientation of the parts is maintained and they are taken to the next process in the assembly.
Which Industries Use These Feeders?
The many benefits of the vibrating feeders make them an ideal equipment for handling bulk materials in a wide range of industries. The following are some industries using these equipment extensively:
- Packaging
- Pharmaceutical
- Food
- Automotive
- Cosmetic
- Electronic
Apart from the industries mentioned above, there are certain advanced materials that also use the vibrating feeders on a large scale. These materials include:
- Recycling Materials
- Dry Bulk Solid Materials
- Glass
- Metal-Working Industries
- Steel
- Pulp and Paper
- Plastics
- Construction and Manufacturing Facilities
Like this, the vibratory feeders are of great importance. They are capable of making the job of dispersal over short distances easier. However, the supplier from whom you buy this equipment also matters, since it has a direct relation with the quality. Buying a bad quality used feeder, could make you pay additional costs in the future for its maintenance and repair. So, it is always advisable to consult the experts and buy good quality used process equipment from well-known suppliers. JM Industrial is one such trusted and experienced provider of used and surplus feeder in the USA, whom you can consider approaching for your requirements.
